Is having Bipolar something that was caused by your parents? This is a common question among people searching for answers and I believe this video can help provide a better understanding of mental illness and causation.

Bipolar Disorder can be so incredibly hard to understand – especially for parents who are trying to raise a Bipolar child. So many parents blame themselves or carry tremendous guilt because their child is Bipolar. I wanted to make a video – from the perspective of someone who is severely Bipolar – to reassure parents that IT’S NOT THEIR FAULT! Many factors contribute to the development of mental illness and we will cover some of those in this video. It’s hard enough to just figure out what’s going on and get a diagnosis for a child. Then the challenges of treatment follow – which often includes horrible side effects. Many children will blame their parents directly for their Bipolar Disorder and I will offer a possible explanation for this as well. I hope this video helps some parents and even those who are Bipolar to have a deeper understanding of the bigger picture.

Please let me know about your personal experience in the comment section below, and if you know someone who might benefit from watching this – please share it with them. We’re all in this together and it doesn’t have to be as hard as it often is. =)
