If you want to learn more about Bipolar Disorder, you’re in the right place! Our entire YouTube Channel is dedicated to Bipolar education, tools, and growth. You are very welcome here and not alone in your experiences.
The most popular Polar Warrior video to-date has been the one talking about “10 Signs of Bipolar Disorder.” After becoming familiar with common symptoms & signs, many people will go on to learn about the different “types” of Bipolar Disorder. We all experience Bipolar symptoms differently, so the various types help us customize the treatment approach to fit our personal needs.
Educating yourself about the signs, symptoms, and types of Bipolar Disorder is EXTREMELY important. This can help prevent a a possible misdiagnosis (which happens all the time), and help us notice the early signs of an episode before it gets beyond our control. It’s hard for a lot of us to put into words how we feel. This is quite normal. If you go to a General Family Doctor and tell them that you are “suffering with depression” (one of the most notable symptoms), without mentioning the symptoms of mania, there is a good chance you won’t receive the proper care needed to feel better.
It’s also extremely important that our loved ones take the time to learn about Bipolar Disorder. People around us can often notice symptoms that we can’t – especially if we’re severely symptomatic. If your child, spouse, or family member was diagnosed with any other type of serious illness, it would be crucial to learn more about it.
Bipolar Disorder is a team effort but not everyone is up to the challenge… It can be a LOT to ask of someone to be there for us and we often have different expectations of what “being there” means. It’s also just as important that our “supporters” have support themselves. It’s easy for them to become lost in the illness with us if they don’t have a road-map (like this channel) to guide them. If our loved-ones aren’t capable of providing the help we need, that’s ok. Don’t waste any time! There are many resources like this channel, organizations, and groups to help bring people together. It’s ok to find your own “Bipolar Family” if needed.
