If someone has Bipolar Disorder, sometimes saying the wrong thing can be a HUGE trigger – causing devastating results and potentially impacting their overall stability or health! A trigger is basically and person, place, thing, or statement which causes our symptoms to get worse. It’s up to each person (or their loved one) to learn what their specific triggers are, however, this video will provide a few ideas that might help!
This video will cover 10 common statements that should never be said to someone with Bipolar Disorder AND WHY. If I missed one, please let me know in the comments so we can help educate others! Together we can help fight the stigmas and social damage inflicted on those with this serious illness. PLEASE help share this video with family and friends so we can help educate others. Help them – help US!
Although many of the things mentioned in the video might appear to be common sense, we still have to see the innocence in people who don’t know enough about Bipolar Disorder to know the impact of their statements. Someone might be “trying to help” by offering advice that might work for those who don’t suffer from Bipolar Disorder – not knowing that they are actually making things worse. Sometimes (gently) letting someone know what they should or shouldn’t do when they see us struggling can prevent a lot of conflicts. Feel free to share this video with those you care about to help them understand Bipolar Disorder a little better. We can all work together to stop unnecessary stigmas and help get information out there!

As a person who has worked in mental health settings, I found your video to be very informative and interesting . You dealt effectively with the issue of those who place blame on parents for their struggles with Bipolar . Your compassion towards those afflicted with mental health conditions is great and helps to wipe away the stigma that still exists . Keep up the great work !
